Stress-coping behavior

Measurement was performed based on 34 items of the Interpersonal Stress Coping Scale

Ÿ Scores for coping with positive relationships were the lowest (1.39). They increased as participants progressed in the practicum, and reached the highest level (1.74) after the practicum.

Ÿ Scores for coping with negative relationships remained unchanged throughout the entire practicum period. They were the highest (0.83) before the practicum and the lowest (0.75) after the practicum. They decreased as participants progressed in the practicum.

Ÿ Scores for coping with issues by postponement were the highest (1.60) before the practicum and the lowest (1.42) after the practicum. They decreased as participants progressed in the practicum.

Ÿ Scores for the following coping types in the Coping Scale were slightly higher in the study compared to earlier studies: the problem-focused type, the emotion-centered type, and the avoidance/aversion type.

Ÿ Scores in the Coping Scale were low only for “asking others to help with resolving issues.”

Stress reaction

Moods were measured using 30 items of the simple version of the POMS.

Ÿ For coping with positive relationships, a significant positive correlation was observed only with “V: vitality.”
