Inclusion criteria

Documented PAF (at least two episodes within the last three months), or persistent AF no longer than one year

No prior ablation for AF

Age ≥ 18 years

Documented treatment failure with at least 1 AAD, not including β-blockers

Written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Persisting AF with a duration of >one year

Patients with acute coronary syndrome

Patients with heart failure NYHA IV

Thrombocytosis, thrombocytopenia

Any condition contraindicating chronic anticoagulation

Intracardiac thrombus

Stroke or TIA within 6 months prior to ablation

Uncontrolled hyperthyroidism

Pregnancy

Life expectancy < 1 year
