Causes of Gerbode shunt

1) Congenital

2) Acquired++

a) Post-surgical:

mitral, aortic, tricuspid, atrial septal defect (Primum and/or Secundum)

b) Infectious endocarditis

c) Myocardial infarction of the right coronary

d) Blunt cardiac trauma
