1) As per Sec 275 to 279 of the Indian Companies Act 1956 and the Companies amendment Act 2000, no person can be a director of more than fifteen1 companies at the same time. 2) Section 165 of New Companies Act 2013 states that no person can hold directorship in more than twenty companies, out of which not more than 10 should be in public companies. No person can hold directorship in more than twenty companies, out of which not more than 10 should be in public companies. 3) As per Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) revised Clause 49, a person shall not serve as an independent director in more than seven listed companies. Further, any person who is serving as a whole time director in any listed company shall serve as an independent director in not more than three listed companies. |
