Longitudinal study

n = 1

- 54 year old male patient who was diagnosed with temporo-parietal glioblastoma and had a history of family gliomas. He had associated AIWS symptoms due to the glioblastoma, including

About 1.5 years

EEG

CT scan

Brain MRI

Valproate

Temozolomide

Radiation therapy

Neurosurgery

Sensory aphasia

Distorted perception of size (visual)

Pelopsia

Kinetopsia

Headaches

Decreased consciousness

Nausea

Photophobia

The patient had his tumor removed and was treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy as well as valproate for his AIWS delusions - he completely went into remission from the AIWS symptoms and did not have any recurrences of it since the initial diagnosis; the glioma did return which required neurosurgery again and has been disease-free ever since

The patient is the only known case study of AIWS resulting from glioblastoma (a type of brain cancer) so it cannot be compared to other studies

The study is a case study meaning the results cannot be generalized
