1.

After delivering the first baby, palpate the abdomen and rule out the presence of another fetus before continuing?

2.

Administer 10 units of IM oxytocin after delivery of the anterior shoulder

3.

Administer 10 units of IM oxytocin immediately after delivery of the placenta

If oxytocin is not available, administer 0.5 mg of Ergometrine IM

If oxytocin is not available, administer 600 µg of Misoprostol per os (PO)

Clamp and cut the cord after 1 - 3 minutes following delivery of the baby

Clamp and cut the cord in less than 1 minute if the baby is asphyxiated

Wait for a strong uterine contraction (2 - 3 minutes) before delivering the placenta
