3. 6.9-magnitude quake strikes southern Philippines, tsunami warning withdrawn

MANILA: An earthquake of 6.9-magnitude struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Saturday (Dec. 29), but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck 193 km east of the city of General Santos, the USGS said, with a depth of 59 km. USGS had earlier reported the quake measured 7.2 in magnitude before downgrading it.
