Measurement was performed based on the 12 items of the GHQ-12.

Measurement was performed based on the 12 items of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ)-12

Ÿ Scores of the GHQ-12 were as follows: 15.2 ± 4.9 before the practicum, 8.2 ± 4.7 at week 1 of the practicum; 18.0 ± 4.9 at week 2; and 17.5 ± 5.4 at week 3

Developed by reference to the Cumulative Fatigue Symptoms Index (CFSI), 29 items of a stress reaction questionnaire were created.

Ÿ Mean scores for the following stress reaction items were high after the completion of the practicum: “anxiety and depression,” “reduced motivation,” and “chronic fatigue.”

Physical stress was measured by the salivary amylase monitor, Kokoro Meter; moods were measured by 30 items of the simple version of the POMS.

Ÿ Male students showed competition/aversion reaction to practicums; however, their stress reaction was reduced as they progressed in the practicum.

Ÿ Scores for the POMS items, “fatigue” and “bewilderment” were higher after the practicum. Participants did not recover quickly from fatigue after the practicum, and exhibited persistent low thinking ability and concentration.
